Why was my last post almost 2 Years back ? - Thoughts on coming back to Blogging, and what tipped me off the Internet.
Hello to whoever is reading this !
I first had a blog by the name physicsrulesouttheworld.blogspot.com.
I used to write about what I understood about physics, my escapades and everything else.
It collapsed because as my knowledge grew leaps and bounds, what I wrote always looked foolish and ridiculous. However, I kept track of those ideas in my laptop and saved all those posts but never got to actually post it. Then I started preparing for something, teaching High School students, wrote a physical diary but never got to do anything else.
My adventures and explorations swung really wide all over the place and one point of time, I even lost interest in my life. So, I deleted all my blogs posts. I had a subscription on Google Domains, I lost it too. It was as on the same name as this by the way. Then I had a good blog by the name sheshankjoshi.wordpress.com. It was good blog where I posted my political opinions and everything. It turned a bit too political with essays ranging from being outright riddiculous to really enraging.
But, I did have the domain www.pseudoascetic.com on my bank. I thought I abandoned it by not paying the domain renewal charges. But then one day felt like coming back because I decided to live in peace and not get involved in politics or opinionated about it. So, renewed the domain. But to my dismay, my domain is hacked and is now held hostage by some ridiculous crap people somewhere in Canada. I am lost. I first thought of putting those emails I received asking for Ransom to relieve my site. I ignored them but then they became threatening. I deleted those emails and retreated from this whole online thing for a long long time.
Only now, after developing some confidence did I learn to be cautious, establish a two factor authentication for everything and extras suspicious about allowing to log in with Google or Facebook ID anywhere.
One Tip : Never try to use the same password across different sites. Even if you follow that method, try to use 2 Factor Authentication always. It will save a lot of time. Also don't stay away from your Emails, like I did. I didn't notice the emails of someone using my Facebook ID to login from somewhere. I used to login with Facebook ID into a lot of websites. So, beware.
Finally I understood where the breach happened : I used by Facebook to login to Farmville2 to play and that's where I am sure the hacking happened.
I am also not sharing my email Id here because of the obvious reasons. Please don't send me an email.
