Celebrating Diwali has become a tough job

Hi, Today yesterday it was Diwali here in India. There are two groups of people organized around whether or not celebrate Diwali by bursting crackers. I wasn't particularly astonished to see myself not interested in burning anything, given that my childhood dreams were to burst as many crackers as possible. There was a competition as to who would make bigger sounds, better crackers and all the fun that comes with it. A couple of times the crackers burst in my hand too, but given that it does happen to children I forgive the crackers for it. But seriously, without crackers it all looked bland and no way good.

And then this happened :

I asked and my mother simply said, "Diwali is no Diwali if there is no sparklers burnt in our home". Just when the night started, I went straight to the market, bought a few crackers given in the picture and finally have decided to do it.

Given the plight and pain of the Firecracker workers and their Unemployment due to COVID19, added to their already vulnerable financial situations for the past few years because of the Green cracker mess created by the courts and everybody else, I was prompted by my self-righteous pity to buy some.

I seriously expected to get some and only burst some. But the crackers have become so costly, I only managed to get what is given in the picture, that's it.

Hopefully by next Diwali, things settle down and we will go back to normal. Although, even if COVID is settled, I would still choose to not burst too much.
Good night and Happy Diwali.
